Distribution Planning
Capture market opportunities through a reliable distribution network
The solution helps planners determine which products to allocate to which distribution centers, based on demand, geographical location of production sites and DCs, lead-times and production and transportation capacities.
In carrying out planning, the solution considers:
- Expected service levels and rationing issues: Distribution Planning determines how much of the demand can be satisfied with available quantities. If availability is insufficient, the solution will allocate the goods either according to customer classes or to the 'fair share' rules selected by the planner.
- Constraints: considers the availability of materials, loading/unloading capacities, transport and storage capacities.
- Alternative shipments based on different source lead-times (alternative suppliers and subcontractors).
- Costs (transport, storage...).
Functions
- Distribution planning, from production plants to distribution centers.
- Management of rationing issues.
- Interception and analysis of critical issues.
- Evaluation of alternative distribution plans, in terms of costs and efficiency.
Benefits
- Improved service level.
- Minimized distribution, transportation and inventory costs.
- Reduced stock-overs and obsolescence risks.
- Enhanced visibility over distribution flows.
Distribution Planning complements the Replenishment Planning and Inventory Planning & Optimization modules.
