AeroMES-AI is a project dedicated to the digital transformation of the aerospace industry through the evolution of the company's MES system, enhanced with AI, simulation capabilities, and advanced data management. It aims to create a smart, flexible, and human-centric factory aligned with the principles of Industry 5.0 by digitalizing manufacturing, quality assurance, and maintenance processes.
It combines Machine Learning, Explainable AI, Digital Twin technologies, and a Data Integration Hub to improve traceability, decision-makingù and process optimization. Continuous integration between PLM, MES, and AI enables the reduction of errors, increased operational efficiency, and the proactive validation of production changes through simulation.
AEROMES-AI is an innovation project funded by the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT). Running for 36 months from October 2026, the project is coordinated by TXT with STAM and LAER as partners. Its objective is to develop and validate AeroMES-AI, a next-generation MES platform for the aerospace industry that integrates PLM, MES, ERP, OT systems, and simulation tools.
The platform leverages AI and Explainable AI (XAI) to enhance manufacturing data utilization, support operational and strategic decision-making, and improve traceability, quality, simulation, and production resilience. With its data-centric and AI-driven architecture, AeroMES-AI evolves into an advanced Industry 5.0 manufacturing system, validated in LAER’s aerospace pilot facility and targeting TRL 6 by project completion.
AeroMES-AI is a project aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the aerospace industry through the evolution of the company’s MES into an intelligent, integrated, and secure platform. The project combines data engineering, artificial intelligence, industrial information systems, and advanced simulation technologies to create a solution that enhances operational efficiency, product quality, and decision-making capabilities across the entire manufacturing value chain.
The platform collects and leverages large volumes of production data, integrating AI and Explainable AI (XAI) services for predictive maintenance, quality control, resource optimization, and anomaly prevention. Through integration with a European standards-compliant industrial Data Space, the system ensures high levels of interoperability, security, and data sovereignty. In addition, the connection with a factory simulator enables the evaluation of complex production scenarios in advance, reducing risks and costs associated with operational changes while providing advanced dashboards and decision-support cockpits for operators and production managers.
Validation in real aerospace environments will demonstrate the technological maturity of the solution.
TXT coordinates the project and leads the development of the AeroMES-AI platform and its AI services, including architecture design, software development, integration, and validation.
STAM is responsible for the conceptual and architectural design of the Factory Simulator, a key project component, and its laboratory implementation.
LAER acts as the industrial pilot and demonstration site where the solution will be tested and validated in a real aerospace manufacturing environment.
